Policies and Procedures
Attendance Policy
Attendance is a key part of athlete development and team success. Expectations may vary slightly by team level, but the following guidelines apply to all MI Legends athletes.
Practice & Tournament Attendance
- Attendance at all practices and tournaments is expected and required
- Missed practices can impact preparation and may affect playing time
Missed Practices & Tardiness
- After 4 missed practices, athletes will sit the corresponding number of sets in upcoming tournaments until time is made up
- Missed practices should be made up when possible with another team (coordinated with coaches)
- 2 tardies = 1 absence
- Athletes must notify their coach as soon as they are aware they will be late or absent
Missed Tournaments & Late Arrival
- Coaches must be notified at least 3 weeks in advance if a tournament will be missed
- Missing a tournament or required assignment may result in sitting the next match played
- Arriving late to a tournament may result in sitting at least one set
Financial Commitment & Payment Policy
A deposit is required to secure a roster spot with MI Legends Volleyball Club ($300 for state teams; $500–$650 for Regional and National teams). Once a deposit is submitted and a roster spot is accepted, the player/family is committing to the full season and is responsible for the total tuition amount.
All deposits and fees are non-refundable.
If a payment becomes past due, the athlete will not be permitted to participate in practices or competitions until the account is brought current. Families may also be responsible for any costs associated with the collection of unpaid balances.
If a player is unable to participate during the season due to injury, illness, violation of club policies, or relocation, the full season tuition remains the responsibility of the player/family. All payments made, including the deposit, are non-refundable.
If a player chooses to leave the club at any point during the season, the player/family is still responsible for the full season tuition. All fees are non-refundable.
Parent & Athlete Communication Policy
MI Legends Volleyball Club values positive parent involvement and strong communication. To maintain a respectful and productive environment, the following guidelines apply to all families:
Game Day Expectations
All parents and athletes are expected to demonstrate respectful behavior toward coaches, officials, players, and other families. Disruptive or inappropriate conduct may result in consequences, including reduced playing time or removal from participation.
24-Hour Rule
Concerns regarding playing time, positions, or coaching decisions should not be addressed on the day of competition. Parents are expected to wait 24 hours before contacting a coach. Coaches will follow the same guideline.
Coaching Decisions
Coaches are responsible for all game-related decisions, including lineups, playing time, and positions. These decisions are made in the best interest of the team and athlete development.
Chain of Communication
To address concerns, please follow this process:
- Athlete speaks with the coach
- Parent schedules a conversation with the coach
- Contact Age Group Coordinator (if needed)
- Contact Club Director (final step)
Please allow time at each level before moving forward.
Conduct & Accountability
Hostile, aggressive, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated. Athletes may be held accountable for parent behavior. Failure to follow club policies may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from the club.
